Indeed, there aren’t many barriers allowing you to get these benefits! All you need is to have 2 children or more and to inform social security that you aren’t receiving family allowance from your home country anymore.

What procedures do I need to go through?

Just visit a CAF (Caisse d’Allocation Familiale) office! There are quite a few around main cities, but you can find the closest one to you by visiting the official CAF website.
Don’t worry; they’ll walk you through the procedures! You should be ready for quite a bit of paperwork, though.

How much are these family allowances?

There’s no simple formula because it depends on how many children you have, how old they are, and how much money you have. But basically, the more children you have, the more you will receive!

What if I’m already living in France? Did I just miss out?

Turns out, if you can prove that you’ve been living in Franc, but that you weren’t receiving these benefits, the CAF will give provide up to 2 years in back payment.

It’s quite the thoughtful measure, isn’t it?
