French government and innovation
Even during his campaign, the French president Emmanuel Macron had promised he would encourage innovation in France. He kept that promise: earlier this year, a 10 billion euros fund for innovation was created.
In particular, this fund will focus one-third of its investment towards “deep tech” startups. These are companies that try to develop technologies that:
- Are complex and vastly different from existing technologies
- Need a lot of investment to get going
- Aren’t necessarily aimed towards markets, at least not at first.
This is just another of the many measures the government takes to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in France. If there was ever a time to be an innovative entrepreneur in France, it’s now!
