Changing company head offices
Whether it’s for practical needs or for a marketing strategy, you might end up changing the head office address of your French company. But how much does it cost to do that?
What are the main costs that you must pay?
Changing your head office address involves changing the company by-laws. Doing this requires you to pay to fixed costs: court fees and the fees to publish the news in official journals.
- Court fees refer to the fees that you have to pay when filing the changes to the INPI and the BODACC
- The fees to publish the news in official journals are, on average, around 150€
What makes these costs vary?
These costs change depending on if you transfer your head office to another place in the same department, or to another department.
- If you transfer in the same department:
If you run a sole proprietorship, and you’re the manager, then the court fees will be around 80€. If you’ve got a company, or have a manger running your company, then they go up to a bit less than 200€.
As for publishing fees, you only have to publish the news once, so they’re about 100€. - If you transfer in another department:

Are there any formalist fees?
If you delegate the task of moving your head office to a lawyer, your accountant or a formalist, you can have to pay them an additional 500€ to 2000€. Though, you do benefit from additional expertise, and there’s quite a bit of paperwork and procedures that need to be done.
As such, it’s very important that you try to make the right decision when initially choosing your head office; it could save you a lot of money and a lot of trouble down the line.
