After briefly running out of steam in July, business creation observed in France in August returned to the trend of the last 13 months of uninterrupted growth (+ 4%). This entrepreneurial dynamic is within the range estimated for a scenario without a health crisis, meaning that business creation resumed its “normal” course in August 2021 and is free from the effect of the disruptions of 2020.

This is the case in construction and services, while the recovery continues in industrial sector. In contrast, business creation is declining in trade, at a rate well below the estimate excluding Covid-19, meaning that this sector is suffering from the aftermath of the recovery in the second half of 2020.
